I wanted a samurai sword for Halloween. This is a real practice sword that is well made and has the weight and balance of a real sword. It was also less expensive than what looked to be poorly made decorative swords.

I was very impressed by the quality of this katana when I pulled it out of the box. The blade was well made and came with a certificate of authenticity that detailed the basic qualities of the sword as a whole. I wouldn't say it was razor sharp but it was sharp enough to do the basic cut tests, in which it held as expected for it's particular price. The artwork on the handle is well crafted and gives it it's own unique look which I personally like. I would say it's better than average for its price, so if you want a better sword you'll need to pay more.

It may be a replica but it's a nice one and ranks higher than other swords I've bought. Decent edge. The ronin-02 has the best edge of mine for the three but I like my collection to have different looking swords or at least saya/tsukas so this was necessary to add to the collection.

Product came extremely early, in fact, a week early than expected and came in beautifully. Of course, there was the oil the blade upon unsheathing. But just looking at the scabbard was amazing, the spread of the red paint on it, so pretty. Blade came in undamaged and they sold it advertised.

The weapon came in a box within a box, I assume as part of the transfer from UPS to the USPS. There was no paperwork, only the manufacturers markings on the inner box. The weapon was flawless, and with a heavy coating of foundry grease on the blade.

Looked at reviews and other swords(like the one that comes with 3 and stand) and decided to get this one. BEST decision!! This sword is beautiful and well made and when you hold it in your hands you know where that extra money went. When I swing it around and pretend to slay zombies or intruders or whatever I know that the sword wont fly out of the handle. It came in plain packing but was undamaged, oiled and ready for battle or display. Well worth the money!!!!

This is perfect. Its made with nice strong damascus steel. They didn't over do it on the oil they put on the blade its not to heavy, and its well balanced. Its a high quality sword for an affordable price.

I don't have much experience playing with Japanese sword. But I definitely feel the quality when I unpack it, it comes with a certificate and even a carrying bag! The details of this sword is nice and clean, material feels solid and grace. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

wellll, it's not perfect. they never are. i do not expect perfection for 320 bux. the blade has 2 or 3 small blemishes, little scratches or marks. not a big deal. if i use it a few times, i will do worse. for the most part, it looks like it has never been used. quite happy with this purchase.this is the 2nd smallest of the set. the spring sakura is the smallest(and my favorite), the other two are pretty beastly, and unwieldy. i have not bent any of them yet, and they clean up pretty easily (stay off the mirror finish part when rubbing, i accidentally dulled a few inches of mine on one of the other swords). behold, the whole dragon king 4 seasons set...

This sword came just as shown, and is in top quality. There is but one minor complaint, but it doesn't affect the product in any way: There is a slight flaw where the cord wraps around the saya, and a small scratch going up an inch along the saya, from that point. Again, it's nothing to worry about. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase, and I will buy from the seller again, if I see another sword I like.

Very nice katana. Especially for the price. For 100 dollars you cannot beat this sword. I'm not a self proclaimed master swordsman like most of the people who write these reviews, and I'm not gonna pretend like I am. That being said I don't know for sure how katanas are graded traditionally so I'm giving this one 5 stars based on how it appeals to me. Aesthetically appealing across the board. Real hamon, everything was just as advertised. It came nice and sharp, although I plan on honing it more. I cut a few tree branches with ease, and some others weren't so easy (which may have been my technique or lack thereof). I don't know if it's razor sharp or not or how to determine that, but it sliced a paper into ribbons a few times. I would buy this sword again, in fact I probably will. No blade wobble. Yes it's made in China, what isn't these days.

I own and have used several live blades. This one is of better construction than all but one, which cost me $1000. The blade is almost full tang and well secured with two pins. The blade is well designed with a nice long fuller and comes semi-sharp. It took little time, however, to get it sharp enough to cut hairs. I have not done any Tameshigiri with it yet but have full confidence.

I received my Katana about an hour ago. I couldn't be more pleased. It is beautiful! It came well packaged and in perfect condition. It exceeded my every expectation. I have read in reviews of other sword makers how the blade arrived scratched and/or the parts of the Katana were loose. Not with this one! It is a solid weapon. And I do mean weapon. I test the sharpness of my knives by pushing them through thin paper, not slicing, pushing. If they go through the paper without drag, they are sharp. My Katana went through the paper like it wasn't there right out of the box. The fabricators were very confident that I would be happy with their Katana before I received it. Now I know why. I'm not an expert on Katanas, but I have done a lot of reading. I believe the steel was really folded and the Hamon is real. The blade came wrapped coated in oil and wrapped in plastic to protect the Saya from the oil. Even the bag, though not the one pictured, is beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone and I am considering buying another.

This is my first sword. It came in perfect condition. The handle and wrapping were tight. The blade was very nice with no defects. The sword has a good edge but needed some final sharpening to slice stuff up. I filled a plastic bottle with water and it busted/cut it some and knocked it into the bushes. I sharpened it a little and re-tried my test. It sliced through with so little resistance it was a little scary. This thing is ready to go now. I also waxed the scabbard and it really made it shine. If its as tough as the videos show...its a keeper. I also bought a bokken to practice with.....which was a good call because a mistake might cost me some stitches or worse. :D

For the price I don't think you can get a better Samurai sword. Normally I collect fantasy swords or medieval time swords but I do have a few katana's and this one is great. While its not my best one for the price, its of great quality. It is sharp so it should not be played with as someone can get seriously injured but that should be common knowledge when dealing with swords. And this is a real sword.

I wish I could give this seller more than 5 stars. I placed the order at 11 pm last night, and it arrived at 10 am this morning, that has to be the fastest shipping ever. The product is as described, and very high quality. It's a little bit lighter than an average wooden bokken of the same size would be, but with none of the splintering that is an issue with wood. I've dealt with this material in other Cold Steel training weapons, and can testify to it's strength and durability.

Swordaxe was great! We got the shipment which came with oil for the sword, well due to packaging it leaked and there was no more oil to clean the weapon. We contacted Swordaxe and they replied back in five minutes and sent us a new package of cleaning kit. There are great and will do business with them again!!

This is my first sword. It came in perfect condition. The handle and wrapping were tight. The blade was very nice with no defects. The sword has a good edge but needed some final sharpening to slice stuff up. I filled a plastic bottle with water and it busted/cut it some and knocked it into the bushes. I sharpened it a little and re-tried my test. It sliced through with so little resistance it was a little scary. This thing is ready to go now. I also waxed the scabbard and it really made it shine. If its as tough as the videos show...its a keeper. I also bought a bokken to practice with.....which was a good call because a mistake might cost me some stitches or worse. :D

Very impressive right out of the box. Well packaged. I purchased this as a gift for a student. The blade is solid and sharp - the quality it apparent. The blade is tight very tight in the saya (scabbard.) The katana itself is very well balanced.

I bought the sword for my husband as a gift. He loved all the detail of the sword. I live in an apartment and driver from UPS threw the package in my balcony. The package was labeled "fragile handle with care". When my husband open the box the sword was not damage at all. My husband could not stop talking about all the great detail he saw on the sword. I have many Katanas and this one is my absolute favorite of all in this price ranage; and note it is a great value and should cost far more. Everything is real and it is truly combat ready. For anyone looking for an authentic cutting sword, this is a great choice. This is the more refined version of the Hanwei Practical Katana Sword. I did some research and this rated well in many sword enthsiast forums. It comes with a tag from Hanwei that provides a serial number to document that this is a Hanwei sword. The workmanship is so beautiful for a sword of this price that I have not had the heart to cut with it yet. I may just buy another one and keep one for decoration and dedicate the other for cutting practice.

I have many swords in my collection, right around 30 or so, with most coming from Amazon and ranging from $25 - $300 in purchase price. That collection includes everything from Whetstone to Shinwa, with both awful and awesome swords coming from Master Cutlery and United Cutlery names, with nearly all of them being katanas, ninjatos, nodachis, or zatoichis (plus a couple of FF7-style 'buster' swords). The only drawback to the sword is it's not very sharp.I did buy a knife sharpener and used it for this blade and when done I wiped the blade down cut through the rag with scary ease.So sharpening the blade is the only thing I recommend.

Excellent training value for your $$. I own several of these. They are basically unbreakable, unlike oak or kamagong wood bokken, of which I have broken many. These polypro bokken are not as rigid as wood, so be aware of that. Also you'll want to put tape on the grip area, the polypro gets slippery when you're training and your hands are sweaty.

Alright.. As a outdoor survivalist/hunter I've had the pleasure of trying many different kinds of blades of all kinds. This particular sword has impressed alot so far. The wrapping is tight, the blade is sharp and the quality of steel is outstanding. My first attempt at a cut was a milk jug I had filled with water... Thinking I needed a fast strong cut I swung fairly hard only to think I had missed. The blade cut so smooth through the bottle (starting at the handle) I didn't even feel it connect with the bottle. Not sure if its luck but the first cut I did left no water on the blade, I thought that was pretty cool. I've handled many katanas and blades and ill tell you this one has an intimidation factor. Even if you are familiar with swords be mindful this one has a slightly different shape than traditional katanas. This is NOT A TOY. I'm very pleased and recommend this for collectors and someone looking for a SOLID beginner battle ready weapon. After several tests with meat/bone believe this to be an excellent choice for defense. I live in the mountains where there are wolves and mountain lions and I feel confident this would put an aggressive animal down easily. The handling is a bit blade heavy but the handle is long enough to have a comfortable swing with alot of blade side leverage to cleave with ease. Again, highly recommended.

Double Sweet!!!!!! Beautiful red and black blade highlights the folding laminations, solid construction. Hay bales yield smoothly. Details nice. I got it for the symbolism of the green and fish, and the red blade details -- Archangel St Raphael, the Source of Divine Healing (Green and fish) and Archangel St Euriel, the Source of Divine Wisdom (Red). Later, I might ask Ryan to have matching Wakizashi and Tanto made for me. I'll bet that the Archangel Raphael, the Source of Divine Healing, uses the sword to metaphorically cut out illness.

Traditional katana collectors may be put off by the lack of a hamon. But don't be fooled. A hamon is not necessary with the purity and heat treatment of the modern steel. It will resist chipping better than a traditional katana as well as take more abuse from flexing pressure. Hamons have disadvantages as well and should not be there if the the reasons for having them are non-existent.

The sword is oilde not too light not too thick, its edge is not as sharp as it could be but is still battle ready, I'd suggest getting a wet stone to sharpen. The steel is a modern way of recreating Damascus steel so it is Damascus steel in a way. The sword is pretty well balanced and its only flaw is the handle isn't as pretty but with looking at it more thoroughly its very sturdy. No katana is meant for cutting tree limbs as no sword should be used as such, the metal is long so it will bend if hit against something its not meant for. Although bamboo is tougher its also hollow. Don't forget to oil it every once in a while as it is a metal that can rust. Treat ur sword with respect and proper use and it will last. It is in fact a great sword and I'm still loving it.

The sword is everything I expected it to be. It came sharp but I sharpened it to what it should be and just tapping the blade causes a good gash. I dropped a steak on it and it cut right through it like a knife through butter after I sharpened it. But just using it out of the box I was able to cut through a rolled up carpet. So all in all it is an excellent blade.

Blade as far as I can tell is a good quality-more practical than fancy. The sheath fits well. not the best quality but it does the job. the hsndgusrd is pretty plain,and the only thing that bothered me is the pommel feels like plastic although it is quite well attached.

This came with some very sharp edges from the casting. I had to shave those off to make it feel right. This is too light for my taste, as I train with it and the o-bokken at the same time.

With this item being used-in good condition, I expected to see some evidence of use but this Katana came to me in like-new condition. I received more than what I expected and I am very satisfied. *What would be really useful, for shopping, would be to have a link to specifically select "warehouse deals" to be able to browse everything that is available in the warehouse deals department.

I received my Samurai Sword on time and in excellent condition . When I opened the box the first thing I noticed was how heavy it was . This is a real sword not just a prop . It is beautifully made and very sharp.( Very sharp ) . I bought it to hang in my new office so I dont plan on using it , but it is nice to know it is there. Who knows maybe there will be a zombie invasion or at least an over zealous salesman , could be fun .

Had a very small rust spot. Not a big deal. It came off with 1,000 grit. Almost with the 3,000 grit Japanese Whetstone. Very happy for the price. $300.00 for a $600.00 Katana. Very sturdy, and thick. Got some weight to it as well. Girls would have a hard time if they are not strong enough. Especially if they try and use it. I give it 4.7 out of 5 stars. Must own, if you can.

Very well balanced. Good weight, good feel to it. It's durability will be tested I assure you but so far it's been a great practice weapon. Came sharp enough out of the box to cut through bamboo as said but definitely could be sharpened to a razor edge if you need it to be.

Delivery was a bit quicker than expected. Sword is fairly sharp. Solid brass pommel can be unscrewed. Mine came without any looseness or rattles. Beautiful blade. You can see very faint texture of the folding pattern when viewing blade from the side. Makes a nice "ping" when you flip the blade with your finger.

Great price for a high quality product served up with solid customer service . I ordered the katana and the next day contacted Ryan through Amazon wondering if it would be possible to customize a few parts . It took a few days for a reply but they were very courteous and eager to please . Not only would they substitute the requested parts but did so with no extra charges and even e-mailed photos for approval before shipping . It came well packaged and in perfect shape . The katana is absolutely gorgeous ! Beautiful hamon from the clay tempering on the folded high carbon polished blade . Solid construction and more than sufficiently sharp to start in on practice targets out of the box . Great balance and feel . Overall it was a pleasure to both work with the company and enjoy the fine product . I'm more than certain I'll be doing business with Ryan again . wellll, it's not perfect. they never are. i do not expect perfection for 320 bux. the blade has 2 or 3 small blemishes, little scratches or marks. not a big deal. if i use it a few times, i will do worse. for the most part, it looks like it has never been used. quite happy with this purchase.this is the 2nd smallest of the set. the spring sakura is the smallest(and my favorite), the other two are pretty beastly, and unwieldy. i have not bent any of them yet, and they clean up pretty easily (stay off the mirror finish part when rubbing, i accidentally dulled a few inches of mine on one of the other swords). behold, the whole dragon king 4 seasons set...

The blade on this thing is incredibly sharp. The overall quality is very good, although it seems a bit blade heavy and unbalanced. I imagine if I were looking for an authentic (and perfect) samurai sword I would be spending thousands of dollars. Regardless, this is a beautiful and well made katana for the price.

I purchased this Katana to protect myself from zombies. You can imagine my disappointment when shipping was so slow that zombies had killed my whole family before it finally got to me. However, when it finally got here I was very impressed with the attention to detail. It is very sharp and light weight. The colors are beautiful. I have already used it to kill 7 zombies. One of which was the UPS man who had me sign for it. I didn't get a good look at him before I struck, but he appears to have turned back into a human after my fatal blow. I am currently hiding in a window well and spying on the zombies to learn their ways. When the time is right, I will strike. 5/5 would buy again!

All of the cold steel training weapons I have purchased have arrived in a timely manner, in good condition and seem to be of excellent quality. My wife and I are not in any kind of training, we just like to "play swords" so our routines tend to be pretty vigorous and we have never experienced any bending or warping.

I have many swords in my collection, right around 30 or so, with most coming from Amazon and ranging from $25 - $300 in purchase price. That collection includes everything from Whetstone to Shinwa, with both awful and awesome swords coming from Master Cutlery and United Cutlery names, with nearly all of them being katanas, ninjatos, nodachis, or zatoichis (plus a couple of FF7-style 'buster' swords). I was looking at adding a ninjato from Ten Ryu when I came across this Boker one, and I took the plunge on it instead.

This sword is very nice and sharp, it is so sharp that I cut through six cans of tea in the same time! It is worth it and always remember to keep it oiled because it will rust other than that is is a very beautiful piece of art I highly recommend this katana

Beautiful. Sharp. Lethal. Functional. I have two other katanas and one ko-katana but if I want to cut something in half this is the go to sword. Displayed on my living room wall with the others and looks like a monster in comparison. The extra long tsuka with the leather wrapping is beautiful and feels good in the hands. Gives great leverage and adds that element of surprise with an extra long reach.

Great, battle ready sword at a great price. I'm tired of hearing from people who say that "If you didn't pay [X amount] or more then you aren't getting a good sword. It's bull. I have known people who make swords and they agree with me. It's not about cost it's about results...I got great results with this sword.

My first ever Katana. Very nice and well balanced. It has a decent edge and does the paper slicing thing well. Could be sharper but in a self defense situation, it would cut my attacker with ease!

I don't know a lot about swords, but I did a lot of research before buying it because it was a gift. Prompt delivery, gorgeous blade, very sharp. I couldn't find anything else as good as this for the price. You could definitely find better, but you'd be paying at least hundreds of dollars more. My boyfriend was ecstatic when I gave it to him! :)
